Christian Matz, PhD

Christian Matz has over 23 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. As an accomplished senior manager, project leader, and people-focused innovator, he drives advancements in aseptic manufacturing and single-use technology.

As Head of Clinical and Commercial Manufacturing Units at various Roche sites within Europe, he manufactured aseptically filled vials, lyophilized products and syringes with his teams.
His knowledge with start up of new Fill/ Finish lines and E2E process design was key as the Pharmaceutical Project Lead in a major Roche investment project in Mannheim/Germany.
He initiated and led the company’s global DP Single Use Expert Team to implement and harmonize SUT applications within Roche/ Genentech.

Leading teams in Visual Inspection, Qualification & Validation, EMT Clean Room Services and Factory Logistics (incl. F/T processing) were further responsibilities in his long career.

Dr. Matz is a Pharmacist by training and achieved his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Technology at the University of Freiburg/ Germany.

He is an educated Agile Project Manager, certified by IHK/ Germany.

At the beginning of 2025, he embarked on his entrepreneurial journey by founding sumap-pharma-consulting GmbH in Switzerland.
